Freshmen Pace Warriors At Season-Opening Tom Barry Invite

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The 2019 season started in Green Bay for the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's cross country team at the 12-team scoring Tom Barry Invitational at Colburn Park. The Warriors finished sixth with 183 points and were paced by freshman Mikaela Sullivan's (Wauwatosa, Wis.) 15th-place finish.

  • Sullivan was the top finisher for the Warriors, finishing with a 5K time of 20:31 in her first collegiate race, good for 15th in the 118-runner field.
  • Freshman Brooke Graesslin (Janesville, Wis.) finished just outside the top 25 in 26th with a time of 21:16 in her first collegiate competition.
  • Freshman Jenn Zastrow (Milwaukee, Wis.) finished 51st in her first collegiate race with a time of 22:40.
  • Senior Megan Kuether (New Berlin, Wis.) and freshman Hannah Lawless (Danvers, Ill.) rounded out the Warriors' top five scorers with back-to-back finishes of 74th and 75th for times of 24:01 and 24:07, respectively.
  • The Warriors were sixth in the final team rankings with 183 points.

  • Carroll won the 12-team scoring invite with 33 points. The Pioneers placed four runners insdie the top 10, led by Amanda Jones' winning 5K time of 19:20.

  • Wisconsin Lutheran is off next weekend but returns to race Saturday, September 14 at the UW-Whitewater Tom Hoffman Invitational. The 6K race begins at 10:00 a.m.
