Women's Cross Country Sixth At NACC Championships

AURORA, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's cross country team placed sixth out of 11 scoring teams Saturday at the 2018 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference championships at Oakhurst Forest Preserve. The Warriors had eight runners post personal best times, led by Hannah Weide's (New Berlin, Wis.) 16th place time of 24:32.03.

  • Weide paced Wisconsin Lutheran with a 16th place finish in the field of 111 runners with a personal-best 6K time of 24:32.03. Despite placing one spot out of the top 15, Weide was awarded All-NACC honors after Benedictine's 15th-place finisher Celeste Ibarra was not eligible as a result of the Eagles' aborted reclassification to NCAA Division II.
  • Siobhan Heiss (Beloit, Wis.) posted a 20th-place finish with a personal-best time of 25:03.83.
  • Megan Kuether (New Berlin, Wis.) and Bethany Wagenknecht (Yorba Linda, Calif.) were 27th and 32nd, respectively, with season-best times of 25:38.50 and 25:53.16.
  • Becca Heller (South Milwaukee, Wis.) was 35th with a time of 26:08.79 to round out the scoring for the Warriors.
  • WLC was sixth in the team standings with 130 points, just two points behind fifth-place MSOE.

  • Benedictine's Emma Roberts won the individual 6K title for the second straight year with a NACC Championships record time of 21:41.25. Edgewood won the 11-team scoring title with 54 points after placing five runners inside the top 19.

  • The Warriors are off next week but return to race Saturday, November 10 at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional at Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax. The 6K race starts at 11:00 a.m. and will be hosted by UW-Eau Claire.
