Women's Cross Country Runner-Up At Private Championships

WATERTOWN, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's cross country team traveled to Watertown to race at the Private College Championships Saturday morning. The Warriors placed second of 12 scoring teams with 78 points as Cassie Balts (Barron, Wis.) led the team with a fifth-place finish out of 92 runners with a 6K time of 25:07.00.

  • Balts was the top finisher among the Warriors, placing fifth out of 92 competitors with a time of 25:07.00.
  • Megan Kuether (New Berlin, Wis.) finished in a personal-best time of 25:42.21, good for a 14th-place finish.
  • Siobhan Heiss (Beloit, Wis.) finished right behind Kuether with a personal-best time of 25:43.58.
  • Bethany Wagenknecht (Yorba Linda, Calif.) ran to a 22nd-place finish in a time of 26:49.96.
  • Madison Mihaljevic (West Allis, Wis.) rounded out the Warriors' top five with a personal-best time of 26:55.62, good for a 24th-place finish.


  • Edgewood's Alyse Peters took home the individual title with her 6K time of 23:56.85. She topped the runner-up finisher by :35 seconds.
  • The Eagles topped the championship field with a 70-point team total, defeating runner-up WLC by eight points.


  • Wisconsin Lutheran will have one week off and will race next October 28 at the NACC Championships in Mequon. The 6K race is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start time at the Concordia Wisconsin Campus Course.
