Warriors Battle Hot Temperatures Friday In Rock Island

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (WLCSports.com) – Cassie Balts (Barron, Wis.) led the Warriors with a 14th-place overall finish with a time of 21:06.6 and the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's cross country team placed 10th out of 17 scoring teams with 214 points Friday at the Augustana Brissman-Lundeen Invitational. The race was shortened from a 6K to a 5K distance due to the sweltering temperatures.

  • Balts was the Warriors' top finisher, placing 14th with a time of 21:06.6.
  • Megan Kuether (New Berlin, Wis.) finished in a time of 22:13.6 to earn a 40th-place finish.
  • Becca Heller (South Milwaukee, Wis.) crossed the line with a time of 22:58.7.
  • Bethany Wagenknecht (Yorba Linda, Calif.) finished just behind Heller in a time of 23:03.1 to place 60th.
  • Christina Biffert (Lomira, Wis.) rounded out the Warriors' top five with a 74th-place finish and a time of 23:30.4.


  • Moody Bible's Patricia Harrison won the individual 5K title with her time of 18:58.4, edging out the runner-up finisher from Westminster by :13 seconds.
  • Simpson claimed the team title with 101 points, only 18 less than runner-up Moody Bible.


  • Wisconsin Lutheran will race at home next Saturday, September 30 at the 17th annual Warrior Invitational at Greenfield Park in West Allis. The 6K race is scheduled for an 11:00 a.m. start time.
