Women's Cross Country Fifth At Private College Championships

CUDAHY, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's cross country team placed fifth out of 15 scoring teams with 175 points on Saturday at the Private College Championships hosted by Alverno in Sheridan Park.

  • Top WLC Individual: Cassie Balts (Barron, Wis./Barron), 13th of 126, 24:25.3

WARRIORS TOP FIVE PERFORMERS

  • Balts bested her 6K time from last week's race with a personal-best time of 24:25.3.
  • Hannah Weide (New Berlin, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Jessica Stumpner (Crystal Lake, Ill./South) finished 32nd and 43rd respectively with times of 25:27.2 and 26:14.5.
  • Bethany Wagenknecht (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza) placed 65th crossing the line in 27:18.8.
  • Anna Curtis (Palmetto, Ga./Homeschooled) finished close behind in 66th with a time of 27:19.5.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS

  • Siobahn Heiss (Beloit, Wis./Paramount Christian) (28:05.8), Erika Shaw (Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) (28:06.0), and Kristina Schuette (Manitowoc, Wis./Lutheran) 28:42.3 rounded out the race competitors for the Warriors.
  • Edgewood's Natasha Zanoya took first in the 126-runner field with a time of 22:44.4. The Eagles also took home the team title with 46 points.

UP NEXT

  • Wisconsin Lutheran will race again October 31 at the NACC Championships. The 6K race will be held at Concordia Wisconsin in Mequon and will begin at 11 a.m.
