AURORA, Ill. - Wisconsin Lutheran College senior women's cross country runner Julie Favorite (New London, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) finished third overall at the 2014 NACC Championships Saturday at Oakhurst Forest Preserve hosted by Aurora. Favorite was named to her third straight All-NACC Team.
Favorite completed the race in a season-best time of 22:30.0, 10 seconds faster than the next closest finisher in the field of 97 runners.
Freshman Cassie Balts (Barron, Wis./Barron) placed 22nd with a personal-best time of 24:26.0. Sophomore Jessica Stumpner (Crystal Lake, Ill./South) ran in 45th with a mark of 26:27.6 also for a personal-best.
Freshman Erika Shaw (Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) (28:25.4) and sophomore Lauren Howard (Pewaukee, Wis./Lake Country Lutheran) (28:40.6) both achieved personal-best times with their finishes. Senior Amberly Weiglein (Brownsville, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran), who had a season-best 31:35.3, also competed for the Warriors.
WLC accumulated 152 team points to finish fifth out of 10 scoring teams (11 total). Aurora, which placed five runners inside the top 10, won the team title with 25 points. The Spartans' Emily Paul cruised to the title with a time of 21:58.2.
The Warriors next event will be the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional in Winneconne November 15. The 6K race from Lake Breeze Golf Course is scheduled to begin at Noon.
