WEST ALLIS, Wis. - Wisconsin Lutheran College senior women's cross country runner Julie Favorite (New London, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) crossed the finish line in 23:09 to top the field of 117 runners at the Private College Championships Saturday at Greenfield Park. The win was Favorite's second straight and the third of her career after winning last week's Principia Cowbell Classic.
Freshman Cassie Balts (Barron, Wis./Barron) posted a top-15 finish with a personal-best time of 25:07. Sophomore Jessica Stumpner (Crystal Lake, Ill./South) ran in 69th with a mark of 28:06. Freshman Erika Shaw (Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) (29:38), sophomore Lauren Howard (Pewaukee, Wis./Lake Country Lutheran) (29:55), and senior Amberly Weiglein (Brownsville, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) (31:45) also competed for the Warriors.
WLC accumulated 193 team points to finish seventh out of 12 schools. Beloit, which placed five runners inside the top 16, won the event with 39 points.
Wisconsin Lutheran next competes November 1 when it travels to the Oakhurst Forest Preserve in Aurora Ill., for the NACC Championships. The 6K race is scheduled for a Noon start.
