ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Wisconsin Lutheran College senior Julie Favorite (New London, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) ran an impressive 6K race Friday at the Brissman/Lundeen Invitational hosted by Augustana. Favorite finished 13th overall out of nearly 500 competitors at the invite held at Saukie Golf Course. The senior crossed the finish line in 22:32, good for the fifth-fastest time in program history.
Freshman Cassie Balts (Barron, Wis./Barron) posted a solid time of 26:29 and sophomore Jessica Stumpner (Crystal Lake, Ill./South) clocked in at 27:22. Sophomore Lauren Howard (Pewaukee, Wis./Lake Country Lutheran) finished the course in 30:24.
Chicago placed three runners inside the top 25 to capture the team title with 115 points. Lewis' Kristen Bonsor bested the large field of competitors with her first place time of 21:44.
WLC returns to action next Saturday, October 4 when it hosts the Warrior Invitational. The 6K race is scheduled for a Noon start at Greenfield Park in West Allis.
