WHITEWATER, Wis. - After finishing runner-up in six races in her collegiate career, Wisconsin Lutheran College women's cross country runner Julie Favorite (New London, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) crossed the finish line in the front of the pack for the first time to win the Warhawk Invitational Saturday at UW-Whitewater.
Favorite finished the 6K event in a time of 23:10.7 to finish atop the field of 80 runners, knocking 18 seconds off of her time from the same meet last year. Cassie Balts (Barron, Wis./Barron) finished 37th with a time of 26:56.8. Jessica Stumpner (Crystal Lake, Ill./South) ran a time of 28:16.0 and Lauren Howard (Pewaukee, Wis./Lake Country Lutheran) crossed the line in 30:19.7.
UW-Whitewater won its home event with a score of 53. WLC did not receive a team score for the event.
The Warriors return to action Friday, September 26th at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational (6K) in Rock Island, Ill. at 5 p.m.
