ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Julie Favorite (New London, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) raced her way to a 22nd-place finish in a field of 282 runners Saturday at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional at Saukie Golf Course. The junior finished the 6K course in 22:29, the fourth-fastest time in school history behind Katie Schommer. She received All-Midwest Region honors as she finished inside the top 35.
Favorite capped an outstanding season in which she recorded five top-five finishes, including finishing in second place four times. She was named All-NACC after placing second at the NACC Championship.
Hannah Shiels (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) and Jessica Stumpner (Crystal Lake, Ill./South), finished exactly one second apart, as Shiels completed the race in 27:13, with Stumpner right behind at 27:14. Chris Sosinski (Antioch, Ill./Shoreland Lutheran) crossed the finish line in 28:37.
Chicago won the team portion of the event with 60 points. The Warriors did not have a team score. Lucy Cheadle of Washington (Mo.) topped the field with her time of 21:31.4.
