MILWAUKEE - Wisconsin Lutheran College junior women's cross country runner Julie Favorite (New London, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) took second place at the NACC Championships for the second straight year at Greenfield Park Saturday. The junior was named to her second straight All-NACC team.
Favorite completed the race in a time of 22:55, more than 38 seconds faster than the next closest racer in a field of 109 runners. She was just six seconds behind Aurora's Emily Paull, who won the event with a time of 22:49. Favorite now has five top-five finishes this season and has taken second place in four races.
WLC had a trio of runners finish close together in Hannah Shiels (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran), Jessica Stumpner (Crystal Lake, Ill./South), and Chris Sosinski (Antioch, Ill./Shoreland Lutheran) with times of 28:09, 28:16, and 28:27 respectively.
Also running for the Warriors were Lauren Howard (Pewaukee, Wis./Lake Country Lutheran), who finished the race in 29:15, Anna Curtis (Palmetto, Ga./Homeschooled) with a time of 30:47, and Liz Zank (Juneau, Wis./Dodgeland) who posted a time of 30:56. Morgan Huibregtse (Oostburg, Wis./Oostburg) ran in 31:29 and Amberly Weiglein (Brownsville, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) finished with a time of 32:29.
The Warriors, who hosted the event, finished seventh out of 10 scoring teams with a score of 183. Aurora won the event with a total of 27 points.
WLC's next event will be the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional in Rock Island, Ill. on November 16. The 6K race from Saukie Golf Course is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
