MEQUON, Wis. - For the second week in a row, Wisconsin Lutheran College women's cross country junior runner Julie Favorite (New London, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) ran to a second-place finish. This time it was at the Private College Championship (6K) on the campus of Concordia Wisconsin, where Favorite placed second out of a field of 133 runners with a time of 23:06. It was Favorite's fourth top-5 finish of the season, and the third time she has finished in second place.
Sophomore Hannah Shiels (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) finished 54th in the race and recorded a time of 27:36. Jessica Stumpner (Crystal Lake, Ill./South) followed closely behind with a time of 28:13 to take 57th.
Chris Sosinski (Antioch, Ill./Shoreland Lutheran) ran the race in 28:50. Anna Curtis (Palmetto, Ga./Homeschooled) and Lauren Howard (Pewaukee, Wis./Lake Country Lutheran) pushed each other hard and finished right next to each other with times of 30:06.7 and 30:06.9, respectively.
WLC finished ninth out of the 15 teams scoring teams with a score of 246. St. Norbert College won the meet with a score of 42 points had six runners finish in the top 20. Katie Kummere of Carthage finished in first place with a time of 22:30.
The Warriors next race will be Saturday, November 2 when they host the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship at Greenfield Park.
