NACC PREVIEW: Warriors, Stars Meet Again Tuesday In First Round

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) – The fifth-seeded Wisconsin Lutheran College women's volleyball team makes its third straight appearance in the NACC Tournament and eighth overall when it travels to face fourth-seeded Dominican Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. inside the Igini Sports Forum in River Forest, Illinois. This marks the second straight season that WLC and DU are squaring off in the conference tournament first round. The winner of tomorrow's first round contest advances to Thursday's semifinal where it will face top-seeded Aurora. In their first and only meeting this season on October 26, the Stars defeated the Warriors 3-1 in Milwaukee.

The Warriors, who wrapped up regular season play 17-12 overall and 9-3 in the NACC under third-year head coach Jenilee Voss, posted their best conference season since 2005. WLC concluded conference play with its first sweep over NACC co-champion Concordia Wisconsin since 2012. Junior Grace Tomhave (Lake Mills, Wis.) and sophomore Mercedes Pye (Zion, Ill.) have each recorded over 200 kills to lead the Warriors, while freshman Ally Goba (Mukwonago, Wis.) is fourth in the NACC with 4.67 digs per set. Wisconsin Lutheran leads the league with 225 total blocks, as junior Alyssa Charron (Appleton, Wis.), Tomhave, and sophomore Abby Raasch (Stillwater, Minn.) each rank in the top five.

The Stars are making their 12th NACC Tournament appearance after finishing 22-6 overall and 9-3 in conference play. Dominican was the only team in the league to defeat two of the NACC's three regular season champions, topping Lakeland and most recently Aurora to close the season. DU ranks second in the NACC in hitting percentage (.208), kills per set (12.4), assists per set (11.7), and service aces per set (2.5), Gabija Sinickaite leads the Stars with 279 kills, Anastasia Labadessa is second the league in service aces (0.54) and fifth in assists pet set (6.33), while Sarah Lychock is third with 5.41 digs per set.
