Women’s Volleyball Nets Second Straight AVCA Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's volleyball team was one of 175 NCAA Division III programs to receive the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2018 season, the organization announced Monday. It marks the third time in the last four seasons WLC has received the award.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-1993 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

The Warriors finished the 2018-2019 academic year with a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.508 and 13 members of the team were named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Scholar-Athletes. WLC was one of eight teams from the NACC to receive the award.

Wisconsin Lutheran begins its 2019 campaign Friday, August 30 at the Inspire Hope Tournament in Holland, Michigan.
