Warriors Fall At Home To Lakeland, 3-1

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 setback to the visiting Lakeland Muskies Tuesday night inside the Recreation Complex. The Warriors currently sit fifth in the NACC standings and have three key NACC road matches in the next week as they look to secure a second consecutive NACC Tournament berth.

  • The Muskies opened the contest with a 10-3 run, forcing the hosts to take a timeout.
  • The Warriors responded after the timeout with a 6-2 run to cut the Lakeland lead to three points, but the visitors never relinquished the lead, taking the first set 25-17.
  • Lakeland carried its momentum into the second set, opening the game on an 8-2 run, then pushed its lead to 11-4, forcing the Warriors into another timeout.
  • WLC called its second timeout of the set when the Muskies took a 23-11 lead, but LU was able to close out the second set, 25-13.
  • The Warriors opened the third set with a 7-2 run, forcing Lakeland to take a timeout of its own, but the hosts were able to keep their lead and eventually pushed their advantage to 18-11.
  • Lakeland responded by cutting the Warriors lead to just four points, forcing WLC to take a timeout to regroup, but the Muskies pushed on and cut the hosts lead to 23-22, forcing Wisconsin Lutheran into another timeout.
  • The Warriors regrouped after the timeout and closed out the third set 25-23.
  • Lakeland opened the fourth set with a 15-10 lead, and extended the lead to 20-13, when WLC called a timeout.
  • The Muskies closed out the fourth set 25-15, hitting .414 in the set.

  • Alysha Kahlow (Fond du Lac, Wis.) led WLC with nine kills while Grace Tomhave (Lake Mills, Wis.) added seven.
  • Cassidy Johnson (Germantown, Wis.) dished out 37 assists for the hosts.
  • Dayton Pye (Zion, Ill.) tallied 15 digs for the Warriors while Jordan Weide (New Berlin, Wis.) added four kills and four blocks off the bench.
  • The Warriors were held to .099 hitting in the contest.

  • Shannon Bishop paced a balanced Lakeland attack with 13 kills while Megan Goeser and Ellie Arbetman added 10 kills apiece.
  • Neenah Primas dished out a game-high 41 assists while Shelby Walsh and Bishop recorded 13 digs apiece.
  • The visitors hit .197 in the contest and recorded 11 service aces.
