Relay Record Leads Warriors At NACC Indoors

KENOSHA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's 4x400-meter relay team finished first with a school-record time to lead the Warriors to a fifth-place finish at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships Saturday inside Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center.

  • The Warriors' 4x400-meter relay squad of Sami Huebner (Sun Prairie, Wis), Becca Heller (South Milwaukee, Wis), Kendra Schumacher (Little Chute, Wis.), and Leah Rosenow (Temecula, Calif.) won the race in a school-record time of 4:14.33, breaking the previous record of 4:16.55 that stood since 2014.
  • Hannah Weide (New Berlin, Wis.) ran a season-best time of 5:36.21 in the mile run for third place in the 17-competitor field. She also scored in the 3000 meters placing eighth in a time of 11:26.00. Siobhan Heiss (Beloit, Wis.) also competed in the mile run, placing sixth in a time of 5:51.79.
  • Heller raced to a third-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:27.23 in the 22-runner field. Kaylyn Shevey (Muskego, Wis,) and Heiss also competed in the 800, placing sixth and seventh with times of 2:32.94 and 2:33.78.
  • Four Warriors scored in the 400-meter dash as Huebner and Schumacher finished fourth and fifth with times of 1:01.97 and 1:02.22, respectively. Madeleine Steber (Green Bay, Wis.) and Rosenow finished seventh and eighth running times of 1:04.12 and 1:04.53.
  • Rosenow leaped to a fifth-place finish in an 18-competitor field in the long jump with a distance of 5.02 meters. In the triple jump, Rosenow was seventh with a distance of 10.19 meters.
  • Kiana Granath (Lodi, Wis.) placed sixth in the high jump clearing a height of 1.41 meters. She also competed in the 55-meter hurdles, placing seventh in the finals with a time of 9.51 seconds.
  • Bethany Wagenknecht (Yorba Linda, Calif.) raced to a sixth-place finish in the 5000 meters with a time of 21:39.47.
  • Huebner qualified for the 55-meter hurdles finals, placing sixth with a time of 9.09 seconds. She also sprinted to a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 27.67 seconds
  • The distance medley relay comprised of Amanda Van Swol (Racine, Wis.), Faith Peebles (Fond du Lac, Wis.), Christina Biffert (Lomira, Wis.), and Kailey Acra (Dupo, Wis.) placed fifth in 14:35.08.
  • Aurora won six events and scored 184 points to win the team title for the seventh straight season. 

  • The Warriors will wrap up their indoor season with a pair of last chance meets next weekend at Carthage and UW-Stevens Point.
