Women's Track & Field Sixth At Karl Schlender Invitational

WHITEWATER, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's track & field team competed in its first meet of 2019 Saturday at the UW-Whitewater Karl Schlender Invitational. The Warriors finished sixth at the season-opening event with 39 points.

  • Kaylyn Shevey (Muskego, Wis.) scored in all three of her events to pace the Warriors. Shevey ran a 1:51.48 600 meters for third place. She also competed in the 60-meter hurdles running a time of 11.02 seconds placing fourth.  In the long jump, Shevey leaped to a seventh-place finish with a jump of 4.86 meters.
  • Kiana Granath (Lodi, Wis.) finished second in the 60-meter hurdles finals while posting a time of 10.57 seconds.
  • Becca Heller (South Milwaukee, Wis.) competed in the 600 meters, running a 1:49.76 for second place, beating her previous mark by 0:11 seconds.
  • Sami Huebner (Sun Prairie, Wis.) sprinted her way to a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.84.
  • Kendra Schumacher (Little Chute, Wis.) finished seventh in the 400-meter dash running a 1:07.08.
  • Invite host UW-Whitewater won seven events and took home the team title with 231 points.


  • The Warriors will compete again next Friday at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Twilight Invitational. Events are scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. inside the Kolf Sports Center.
