Huebner, Morgan Set Records In Season Opener At UWO

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's track & field team opened its indoor season Saturday at the UW-Oshkosh Early Bird Invitational. The Warriors finished fourth with 43.5 points and saw a pair of school records fall in the 400 meters and shot put.

  • Location: Kolf Sports Center, Oshkosh, Wis.

  • Sami Huebner (Sun Prairie, Wis.) won the 400-meter dash with a school-record time of 1:01.20, breaking her own record by .01 seconds. Huebner also competed in the 60-meter hurdles and placed eighth with a time of 11.33.
  • Kiana Granath (Lodi, Wis.) placed third in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.45 meters. Granath placed eighth in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles and posted a finals time of 10.58 for seventh place just in front of Huebner.
  • Grace Morgan (Potosi Wis.) set a new school record in her first collegiate competition in the shot put with a throw of 11.26 meters for an eighth-place finish.
  • Kendra Schumacher (Little Chute, Wis.), Kaylyn Shevey (Muskego, Wis.), and Madeleine Steber (Green Bay, Wis.) all competed in the 400-meter dash placing fourth, fifth, and sixth with times of 1:06.72, 1:06.99, and 1:07.08, respectively.
  • Jenna Schmitz (Fox Lake, Wis.) competed in the long jump finishing fifth with a leap of 4.74 meters, in front of Shevey who also jumped to a sixth-place finish with a mark of 4.74 meters. Schmitz also competed in the triple jump, placing sixth with a mark of 9.29 meters, in front of Natalie Lendt (Watertown, S.D.) who placed seventh with a jump of 8.67 meters.
  • Invite host UW-Oshkosh won eight events and captured the team title with a 211.5 points.

  • The Warriors will compete again on Saturday, January 12 at the Karl Schlender Invitational hosted by UW-Whitewater. Events are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. inside the Williams Center.
