Ebeling, Favorite, Frier Win Events At St. Norbert

DE PERE, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's track & field team scored 66.5 points to place fifth out of nine teams at the St. Norbert Invitational Saturday at Schneider Stadium.

Jenny Ebeling (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) won the javelin with a throw of 38.75 meters, Julie Favorite (New London, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) won the 10,000 meters in a time of 38:48.29, and Amanda Frier (Oostburg, Wis./Oostburg) won the 400 meters and crossed the finish line in a time of 60.78.

Frier also took home third in the 200 meters with a time of 27.47. Also competing in the 400 meters were Tori Remsted (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) who placed sixth (67.19) and Taylor Remsted (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) who was eighth (70.46).

Amberly Weiglein (Brownsville, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) finished second and broke the school record in the 100 meters crossing the finish line with a time of 12.55. She also took home two more top 10 finishes by placing eighth in javelin (23.97 meters) and ninth in the shot put (10.10 meters).

Anna Curtis (Palmetto, Ga./Homeschooled) placed seventh in the 1,500 meters to finish with a time of 5:31.02. Cassie Balts (Barron, Wis./Barron) placed 13th (5:39.63), and Lauren Howard (Pewaukee, Wis./Lake Country Lutheran) finished with a time of 6:21.70 for 15th.

Jessica Stumpner (Crystal Lake, Ill./South) ran a time of 2:36.47 to finish sixth in the 800 meters.

Wisconsin Lutheran's 4x400-meter relay finished fourth with a time of 4:30.87.

In other field events, Bethany Unkefer (Phoenix, Ariz./Arizona Lutheran) tied for third in the high jump with a leap of 1.53 meters. Debbie Miller (Mazeppa, Minn./Zumbrota-Mazeppa) placed eighth in the long jump with a distance of 4.57 meters.

Meet host St. Norbert won its invite with 237 points.

Wisconsin Lutheran will compete at the Private College Championships hosted by St. Norbert next Saturday at Schneider Stadium. Field events begin at 10:30 a.m. with running events to follow at 11:30 a.m.
