Warriors Defeat Division II Albany State In Spring Break Finale

HILTON HEAD, S.C. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team concluded play in the 2019 PTR Spring TennisFest Friday morning, defeating NCAA Division II Albany State 6-3 at Hilton Head Resort.

  • Final Score: Wisconsin Lutheran 6, Albany State 3

  • The Warriors started out by sweeping doubles play, with Amanda Wietrzny (Pewaukee, Wis.) and Hannah Gerbing (Pewaukee, Wis.) winning 8-3 at the No. 1 singles position, then Natalee Douangvilay (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Reebee Ratkowski (Waterford, Wis.) taking the No. 2 doubles position by a score of 8-6. WLC earned a win by default at the No. 3 doubles position for its third doubles win.
  • Ratkowski earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory at the No. 3 singles position for her second win of the afternoon, while Katarina Volkmann (Slinger, Wis.) won 3-6, 6-3, 10-8 at the No. 5 singles position to clinch the match for WLC. The Warriors won the No. 6 singles position by default. 

  • The Warriors, who finished their spring break trip with a 2-2 record, enjoy two weeks off before facing Carthage (6-5) and St. Norbert (9-5) at LifeSport Tennis Club in Racine. The matchup against Carthage is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. Sunday, March 31.
