WLC Stumbles At Home Against CUW

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer team cut an early deficit in half, but visiting Concordia Wisconsin proceeded to score four unanswered goals in the second half as the NACC co-leader Falcons handed the Warriors a 6-2 defeat Wednesday night at Warriors Soccer Field.

  • The Falcons cracked the scoring column first in the 11th minute when Isabel Downs scored unassisted for a 1-0 lead.
  • CUW made it 2-0 less than three minutes later after Alexandra Tomich finished off a deflected cross into an open net.
  • The Warriors cut the deficit in half in the 22nd minute when Kendra Schumacher (Little Chute, Wis.) netted her third goal of the season off an assist from Miriam Carreno (San Antonio, Texas). The contest remained 2-1 in favor of Concordia Wisconsin through halftime.
  • Tomich and Downs alternated scores as the duo accounted for all four of the Falcons' second half scores in the 46', 49', 55', and 65'.
  • Helen Joyce (De Pere, Wis.) capped the scoring for WLC in the 79' with her team-leading 11th goal of the season for the 6-2 final.

  • Joyce led the Warriors with five shots and a goal in the match for her 11th of the season, which ranks third in the NACC.
