Warriors Conclude Season With Senior Night Setback

MILWAUKEE - Concordia Wisconsin scored twice within the first 4:01 of play to send the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer team to a 4-0 loss Wednesday night at Warrior Field. The game marked Senior Night for Maggie Smith (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn) and Cari Westover (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) as it was the final game of the season for WLC.

The Falcons got off to a strong start, pressuring the WLC defense and forcing an own goal just 1:30 into the game after a mishandled cross. Emily Ciesielczyk quickly doubled the lead off an assist from Brittany Klumpp at the 4:01 minute mark.

CUW went into halftime with a 3-0 lead after Anna Hirssig successfully converted on a penalty kick in the 20th minute. Concordia fired off 18 shots in the half, compared to one for the Warriors. WLC goalkeeper Kate Gucinski (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) made seven saves.

The Falcons continued to control play in the second half, adding a goal from Klumpp in the 77th minute. CUW got off another 18 shots in the second period of play. Gucinski added seven more saves in the second half. Westover recorded WLC's only shot attempt in the game. Klumpp and Carley Pfannerstill each had seven shots in the game for CUW (10-7-1, 8-2-1 NACC).

The Warriors (4-13-2, 2-7-2 NACC) conclude their season in ninth place in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
