RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Concordia Chicago Cougars (10-2-3, 4-2-2 NACC) jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer couldn't quite overcome that deficit as the Warriors fell by a score of 3-1 Sunday at Concordia Stadium.
A pair of first-half goals from Alisha Johnson and Natalie Weinhold gave the Cougars a 2-0 lead going into halftime. The Cougars had nine shots compared to WLC's five in the first half. The Warriors lone goal came in the 50th minute off the foot of Cari Westover (Muskego, Wis./Muskego), her team-high fifth on the year, trimming the deficit to 2-1. Heather Nielsen (Wildwood, Fla./Villages) was credited with the assist.
Concordia finished the day with 15 shots to the Warriors' eight. Westover paced the Warriors with three shots, and goalkeeper Kate Gucinski (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) made five saves. Alyssa Soulis led the Cougars with six total shots, including the final goal of the day for her team in the 51st minute.
Wisconsin Lutheran (4-10-2, 2-4-2 NACC) will travel to face Lakeland (4-11-1, 1-7-0 NACC) Tuesday for its next conference matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
