Women's Golf Opens Fall Slate At Shootout On The Border

BRISTOL, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's golf team opened its 2019 fall season Friday and Saturday at the Carthage Shootout on the Border at Bristol Oaks Golf Club. The Warriors finished 13th at the season-opening event.

  • Slominsky (Appleton, Wis.) and Fleek (Albert Lea, Minn.) finished with identical scores of 193 and tied for 66th in the 92-player field. Both players posted team-low alternate rounds of 93. The duo posted the lowest individual round for the program since 2017.
  • Miranda Noon (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) carded a two-round 221 in her collegiate debut. She posted a 105 in Friday's first round and finished tied for 82nd.
  • Alyssa Leitzke (Jackson, Wis.) finished six shots behind Noon with a 227 and Maddie Richio (Racine, Wis.) shot a 273 to round out the scoring for the Warriors.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran, which totaled a team score of 834 (414-420), improved by 66 strokes from the same tournament a year ago.

  • UW-Whitewater topped the 13-team field with a two-round 624 (309-315) to win the tournament by nine shots over host and runner-up Carthage. Kelly Storti from Whitewater and Madison McCambridge from UW-Stout each shot a 152 to earn medalist honors.

  • Wisconsin Lutheran returns to the links next Sunday for the NACC Championship Preview at Meadowbrook Country Club in Racine. Tee time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
