Mortell's Season-Low Leads Warriors Against Lakeland

KANSASVILLE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Ellyn Mortell (Eden Prairie, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran) shot a season-low 82 (+10) to lead the field and win her 11th career event, but the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's golf team fell short in a dual against Lakeland at Brighton Dale Links on Sunday afternoon.

INSIDE THE SCORECARD

  • Mortell shot an 82 to finish eight strokes ahead of second-place finishers Finni Simko and Sami Jo Williams from Lakeland. 
  • Brianna LeFebre (Oconto Falls, Wis./Oconto Falls) finished second for the Warriors in the dual, shooting a season-low 111 to place sixth. 
  • Sydney Osborn (Pardeeville, Wis./Pardeeville) also recorded a season-best 138 for WLC. 
  • Caroline Kuether (Crete, Ill./Illinois Lutheran) finished a pair of strokes behind her teammate to shoot a 140 and round out the Warriors' scorers. 
  • Lakeland won the dual after shooting a round total of 371 (+83). The Muskies were led by the second place finishes of Simko and Williams, along with the overall fourth and fifth place scorers.

UP NEXT

  • The Warriors will return to Brighton Dale Links over the weekend to compete in the 2016 NACC Championship. The tournament is slated to begin on Friday with a tee time of Noon and continue on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 11:00 a.m. The conference champion receives the conference's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division III Championship.
