Mortell, Fenney Finish 1-2 At Inferno Classic

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Ellyn Mortell (Eden Prairie, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran) and Jordan Fenney (Erin, Wis./Hartford) finished first and second overall to lead the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's golf team at the Inferno Classic on Friday afternoon at Greenfield Park Golf Course. The Warriors finished fourth out of five teams with a 445.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Mortell captured medalist honors for the 11th time in two-plus seasons for the Warriors. The junior fired a 92 to top the 25-player field.
  • Her teammate, Fenney, finished just one stroke back to take second overall with a season-low 93.
  • Brianna LeFebre (Oconto Falls, Wis./Oconto Falls) carded a season-best 112 to place 16th.
  • Sydney Osborn (Pardeeville, Wis./Pardeeville) and Caroline Kuether (Crete, Ill./Illinois Lutheran) closed out the scoring for Wisconsin Lutheran with a 148 and 156, respectively.
  • Lakeland won the event with a 386 to finish 15 strokes ahead of second-place Carthage's 401.
