Women's Golf Opens Season At Alverno Triangular

WEST ALLIS, Wis. – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's golf team finished second with a team score of 388 at its season-opening Alverno Triangular at Greenfield Park Golf Course Saturday afternoon. The Warriors were led by Ellyn Mortell's (Eden Prairie, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran) round of 87.

  • Mortell led the Warriors with a second-place finish in the 14-player field, just one shot off the lead.
  • The Warriors had four golfers finish within the top 10.
  • Jordan Fenney (Erin, Wis./Hartford) and Ashley Miler (Cedarburg, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) earned fifth and sixth finishes with scores of 94 (+25) and 98 (+29), respectively.
  • Lakeland finished with a team score of 370 (+94) to win the triangular. The Muskies' Sami Jo Williams earned medalist with her round of 86.
  • Host Alverno posted a third-place finish with a 559 (+283).


  • Mortell was the only golfer to post a birdie in the tournament, birdying holes 6 and 10.
  • Fenney had a strong front 9, scoring a 46 (+12).



  • The Warriors travel to the Edgewood Triangular at Yahara Hills Golf Course in Madison on Thursday for a 1:30 P.M. tee time. In this tournament, WLC will compete against host Edgewood and Concordia Wisconsin.
