Mortell Finishes Seventh At NACC Championship

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. - Wisconsin Lutheran College freshman women's golfer Ellyn Mortell (Eden Prairie, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran) carded a closing-round score of 84 to finish seventh out of 44 competitors and earn All-NACC honors at the NACC Championship, held Saturday, Sunday, and Monday at Trappers Turn Golf Club.

Mortell fired a 54-hole total of 269 (98-87-84). Jordan Fenney (Erin, Wis./Hartford) shot a three-round total of 296 (104-96-96) to tie for 21st. Rachael Wendt (Seymour, Wis./Seymour) (316), Becky Miller (Mazeppa, Minn./Zambrota-Mazeppa) (324), and Ashley Miller (Cedarburg, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) (327) also competed for the Warriors.

WLC combined for a team score of 1194 to finish sixth out of eight teams. Aurora won the NACC title with a score of 1100. 

Concordia Wisconsin's Nina Puch repeated as NACC Player of the Year, winning the championship by 10 strokes with a 54-hole score of 249 (82-83-84). Megan Kelley of Marian finished second and was named NACC Freshman of the Year and Aurora's Justin Wyeth received Coach of the Year honors.
