WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. - Freshman Jordan Fenney (Erin, Wis./Hartford Union) fired a season-low 87 in the third round to lead the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's golf team to a fifth-place finish at the 2013 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship Monday at Trappers Turn Golf Club.
Fenney finished the three-round championship, which was shortened from 54 to 45 holes due to Saturday's inclement weather, with a 221 (44-90-87), just one shot back of second. She tied for third in the 52-player field, earning all-conference recognition.
Senior Alex Hackel (Crete, Ill./Illinois Lutheran) was 26th with a 260 (54-99-107). Sophomore Ashley Miller (Cedarburg, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) posted the team's third-lowest total with a 268 (60-96-112). Freshman Katherine Seidler (St. Joseph, Mich./Michigan Lutheran) was just two shots behind Miller with a 270 (51-104-115). Sophomore Rachael Wendt (Seymour, Wis./Seymour) rounded out the WLC lineup with a 278 (60-106-112).
The Warriors concluded the three-day championship with a total of 1016, just one stroke behind fourth-place Marian. WLC's second-round 389 was good for a school record.
Concordia Wisconsin combined to shoot a three-day 926 to win the championship for the fourth time in the past five seasons. The Falcons' Nina Puch earned medalist honors after her three-day 205 (42-80-83). She was named the conference's Player of the Year for her efforts. Lakeland's Finni Simko was named Freshman of the Year after her second-place 220 (45-85-90). Northwestern (Minn.) head coach Billy Aune was voted Coach of the Year.
