MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College's Jen Dowden (Bonduel, Wis.) has been named First Team All-Central Region by D3hoops.com for the second straight year, the organization announced Monday. It marks the 11th straight year, and fourth straight for Dowden, that a Warriors women's basketball player has been recognized as All-Region by D3hoops.com.
A two-time NACC Player of the Year and four-time First Team All-NACC selection, Dowden was joined on the five-member First Team by UW-Eau Claire's Hallee Hoeppner, Spalding's Alex Martin, Washington U's Madeline Homoly, and Wheaton's Hannah Frazier. Dowden was one of three players from the NACC to receive All-Region recognition, but was the lone first team pick.
Dowden ranked second in the conference in scoring at 15.5 points per game while shooting 44.7 percent from the field. The senior forward pulled down 3.8 rebounds and averaged 3.2 assists per game. Dowden, who started all 29 games, reached double figures 25 times and scored 20+ points in eight contests. The eight-time NACC Student-Athlete of the Week poured in a season-high 30 points with 11 rebounds in the Warriors' 67-47 win over Concordia Wisconsin February 23 in the NACC Tournament Final. Dowden, who started all 105 games played in her career, became the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,757 career points.
The Warriors concluded their season with a program-best 27-2 overall record and a 19-1 mark in the NACC. WLC made its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance and won its third game in tournament history, defeating No. 17 Illinois Wesleyan, 48-40, in the first round.
