MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College's Jen Dowden (Bonduel, Wis.) has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of February 18-24, as selected by the league's sports information directors. This is the second weekly award of the season for Dowden and the eighth of her career.
Dowden averaged 22.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 53.6 percent from the field and a perfect 100 percent from the charity stripe as the Warriors clinched their second straight NACC Tournament title Saturday. The senior scored 15 points in just 20 minutes Friday as WLC defeated Dominican 69-41. Dowden became the all-time leading scorer in program history with 1,744 points Saturday after a season-high 30-point, 11-rebound performance in a 67-47 win over Concordia Wisconsin.
Dowden and the Warriors (26-1) travel to St. Paul, Minnesota Friday for a NCAA Tournament First Round game against No. 17 Illinois Wesleyan (23-4). Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside Schoenecker Arena on the campus of the University of St. Thomas.
