Warriors Cap Regular Season With Senior Day Win

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) – Behind a game-high 22 points from Jen Dowden (Bonduel, Wis.), the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's basketball team defeated the visiting Edgewood Eagles 55-42 on Senior Day and Winterfest Saturday inside the Recreation Complex. The Warriors dominated the paint, out-rebounding the visitors 36-25 and out-scored them 32-12 in the paint.

  • The two teams were knotted at 4-4 after the first three minutes of the contest, but Maddy Elrod (Conifer, Colo.) connected on a triple from the left wing to give the Warriors a 7-4 lead.
  • Edgewood closed out the opening quarter with six straight points to take a 10-7 lead into the second period.
  • The Eagles opened the second quarter on a 7-2 run, but the Warriors responded with nine straight points to take an 18-17 lead, forcing Edgewood to take a timeout with 5:26 remaining in the second quarter.
  • Following the visitors timeout, Kelly Tramburg (Fall River, Wis.) scored three straight points to push WLC's advantage to four points.
  • After EC tied the contest at 21-21, the Warriors closed out the second quarter on a 6-0 run, taking a 27-21 lead into the locker room at halftime.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran maintained a five-point lead five minutes into the second half, then Dowden scored three points to push the lead to eight with just under two minutes left in the third period.
  • Amanda Brug (Sturtevant, Wis.) converted a three-point play to extend the Warriors' lead to nine points, and Kelly Tramburg converted two free throws with 0.5 seconds left in the third to send WLC into the fourth quarter with a 42-33 lead.
  • Dowden opened the fourth period with an offensive rebound and a layup, then converted a turnaround jumper to keep Wisconsin Lutheran's lead at nine points with 6:33 left to play.
  • Following the Dowden basket, Kelly Tramburg knocked down a triple from the right corner, increasing the Warriors' lead to 12 points and forcing EC to take a timeout with 6:05 remaining on the clock.
  • Edgewood trimmed WLC's lead to seven points, but Dowden answered with five straight in the final 1:30 of the contest to take the 55-42 victory.

  • Dowden led all scorers with 22 points while Kelly Tramburg added 10 points and a game-high eight rebounds.
  • Elrod chipped in seven points and seven boards while Reinke scored five points, five rebounds, and five assists.
  • WLC shot 37 percent (20-of-54) from the floor and converted 63.2 percent (12-of-19) from the free throw line.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran outscored EC 32-12 in the paint and out-rebounded the Eagles 36-25, including 13 offensive rebounds.
  • The Warriors won their 28th straight home game and 16th straight over the Eagles.

  • Lexi Walter led the Eagles with 10 points and five rebounds while Maryn Ferron added nine points off the bench.
  • Edgewood shot 38.1 percent (16-of-42) from the floor and was held to 12.5 percent (1-of-8) shooting from the three-point line.
