Warriors Rout Regents In Conference Road Finale

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's basketball team lit up the scoreboard for a season-high 93 points as 15 players reached the scoring column in a 93-49 win over Rockford in the Warriors' final conference road contest of the season Tuesday night inside the Seaver Center. WLC recorded a season-high 28 assists on a season-high 38 made field goals.

  • The Warriors raced out to a 14-0 lead just four-and-a-half minutes into the first quarter and nearly a minute later led 20-2. Maddy Elrod (Conifer, Colo.) and Kelly Tramburg (Fall River, Wis.) combined for 7-of-9 shooting and eight points apiece in the opening stanza as the Green and White carried a 25-5 lead into the second quarter. WLC, which shot 55.6 percent, held the Regents to just 1-of-11 shooting in the first period.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran used separate scoring runs of 10-2 and 7-0 in the second quarter to maintain a 48-16 lead at halftime. Maddy Elrod and Jen Dowden (Bonduel, Wis.) scored six points each and the Warriors shot an even 50 percent in the period.
  • WLC saved its biggest quarter for the third, scoring 27 points on an impressive 64.7 percent (11-for-17) shooting. The Warriors closed the quarter on a 9-0 scoring run to build their largest lead of the game of 49 points, 75-26, heading into the final frame. Tierney Woodward (Poynette, Wis.) and Amanda Brug (Sturtevant, Wis.) netted six points apiece as eight players cracked the scoring column in the third quarter alone.
  • Rockford out-scored Wisconsin Lutheran by five points in the fourth quarter, thanks to an 8-0 run to begin the final period. The two teams traded baskets the rest of the way en route to the 93-49 final score. Maria Murray (Middleton, Wis.) led all scorers with six points in the fourth quarter.

  • Maddy Elrod paced three players in double figures with a game-high 16 points on a perfect 7-of-7 shooting. Woodward knocked down four triples to finish with 14 points and Morgan Tramburg (Fall River, Wis.) added a season-high 10 points.
  • Lexi Reinke (Bonduel, Wis.) snagged a game-high six rebounds, while Dowden and Jenna Mace (Wisconsin Dells, Wis.) dished out five assists each.
  • The Warriors shot at least 50 percent in a game for the sixth time this season, finishing 38-for-76 from the floor.
  • WLC tied a season high with 44 rebounds, compared to the Regents' 27.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran out-scored Rockford 26-4 in second chance points and 25-4 in points off turnovers.
  • The Green and White clinched at least a share of the NACC championship and can win the title outright with a win with two games remaining.

  • Sammi Russell and Nicole Silvers paced the Regents with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
  • Rockford shot 36.2 percent for the game and committed 23 turnovers.
