Warriors Shoot Down Inferno For Sixth Straight Win

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - Jen Dowden (Bonduel, Wis.) scored 18 points to lead four players in double figures and the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's basketball team shot a season-high 46.2 percent en route to a 76-57 win over Alverno Saturday night inside Reiman Gymnasium.

  • The Warriors jumped out to an 11-2 lead over the Inferno with 6:03 left to play in the first quarter. WLC's lead never dipped under seven points as it carried a 21-11 lead into the second period thanks to a game-high 69.2 percent (9-for-13) shooting in the first 10 minutes.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran started an 11-0 run midway through the second quarter to build a 22-point lead with just over a minute left before the break. The Green and White carried a 44-20 lead into halftime. Kelly Tramburg (Fall River, Wis.) paced the Warriors with 10 first-half points.
  • WLC led by 28 points just two minutes into the third quarter, but a 10-0 run by Alverno brought the lead back down to 18 points at the 4:21 mark. The Warriors brought their margin back up to 24 points, the same as it was at halftime, as both teams scored 20 points in the third period.
  • The visitors extended their lead to a game-high 30 points past the midway point of the fourth quarter after a three-pointer from Maddie Cruz (New Berlin, Wis.). The Warriors were held scoreless, however, over the final 4:53 of the game as the Inferno closed the contest on an 11-0 run.

  • Dowden dropped in a game-high 18 points to lead four Warriors in double figures. Maddy Elrod (Conifer, Colo.) followed with 13 points.
  • Tierney Woodward (Poynette, Wis.) came off the bench to score 11 including three triples. Tramburg stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists.
  • Lexi Reinke (Bonduel, Wis.) and Cruz added nine and eight points, respectively.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran shot a season-high 46.2 percent (30-for-65) from the floor and from the three-point line (47.4 percent) by going 9-for-19.
  • WLC doubled up Alverno 40-20 on points in the paint, had an 18-5 advantage in fast break points, and out-rebounded the hosts 40-28.

  • Kendra Patterson paced three Inferno players in double figures with 15 points. Alverno was held to 38.0 percent shooting on 19-of-50.
