SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - Kristen Schulz (Safford, Ariz./Arizona Lutheran) scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Rachel Hoft (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) added 17 points as the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's basketball team bounced back from its first conference loss with a 70-56 road victory over Lakeland Wednesday night at Woltzen Gymnasium.
The first half was tightly contested as the two teams exchanged leads eight times. The Muskies then surged out to an 18-12 lead, their largest of the game, at the 10:19 mark. LC maintained a lead until the 3:01 mark before the Warriors closed out the half on a 6-1 run for a 28-25 halftime lead. WLC shot 33.3 percent (11-for-33) in the first half, compared to LC's 37.9 percent (11-for-29).
The Warriors never relinquished their lead in the second half, and led by double-digits (46-35) for the first time with 10:48 left in the game. WLC's lead never went below nine points the rest of the way as it built its largest lead of the game of 14 points before the final horn sounded.
Wisconsin Lutheran shot 39.3 percent from the floor for the game as 22 of its 24 made field goals were assisted. Melissa Klemm (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) dished out nine of those assists.
Schulz's 20 points and 11 rebounds were both game-highs, while Hoft drained 5-of-6 three-pointers for 17 points. Melanie Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) added nine rebounds and Brittanny Bahr (Racine, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) contributed nine points off the bench.
Leah Eisner posted a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Muskies (2-3, 1-1 NACC). Vashia Gordon also added 11 points. Lakeland shot 33.9 percent (20-for-59) from the floor for the game.
