LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College's Abby Mahsem (South Milwaukee, Wis.) has received Second Team All-Great Lakes Region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for the second straight season, the organization announced Wednesday. Mahsem is the third player in program history to receive All-Region recognition from the NFCA and the first multi-award winner.

Mahsem, who was named NACC Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season, led the NACC with a 1.81 ERA and 154 strikeouts while posting a 14-10 record in the circle. The senior tossed 21 complete games while allowing just 43 earned runs in 166.1 innings. Mahsem set a NACC Tournament record May 3 when she struck out 17 batters as the Warriors defeated Dominican 5-4, her third 10+ strikeout performance of the season.

Mahsem closed out her storied career for the Green & White ranking second in career ERA (2.40), appearances (93), shutouts (14), and strikeouts (481). She is third in starts (73), wins (40), batters faced (2,297) and innings pitched (521.0). Additionally, Mahsem ranks fourth in complete games (55).

Mahsem joins Brittney Blazich (2014) and Michelle Shambeau (2008) as the program's only other Second Team All-Region honorees.

The Warriors concluded their 2019 campaign with a 23-17 overall record and an 11-11 mark in NACC play. WLC qualified for the NACC Tournament for the second straight year and won two games in the tournament for the first time in program history. The 23 wins for the Warriors are also second-most in program history.
