Krahn Leads Warriors To Fourth At NACC Outdoor Championships

LISLE, Ill. (WLCSports.com) – Chris Krahn (De Pere, Wis.) was named Track Athlete of the Meet to lead the Wisconsin Lutheran College men's track & field team to a fourth-place finish at the 2019 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships Friday and Saturday at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex. It was WLC's third consecutive fourth-place finish at the championships and its highest point total since 2009.

  • Krahn ran a personal-best 5,000m with a second-place time of 15:52.12. He also posted a personal-best time of 4:04.46 in the 1,500m for third place. Krahn was also fourth in the 800m, posting a time of 2:00.72, another personal best.
  • Joel Schamber (Wyoming, Mich.) posted personal-bests in both hurdle events at the championships. Schamber won the 400m Hurdles in a school-record time of 55.34 seconds, breaking his previous record of 56.13 seconds from 2017. He also finished fourth in the 110m Hurdles in 15.57 seconds.
  • Brady Stuck (Germantown, Wis.) won the 3,000m Steeplechase with a personal-best time of 9:56.59.
  • Sam Rodmyre (Federal Way, Wash.) won the Decathlon in his debut at the event, earning 5,145 points. Rodmyre also scored in the 110m Hurdles, clocking a time of 16.80 seconds for seventh.
  • Javier Cano-Telles (Milwaukee, Wis.) recorded personal-bests along with second and third place finishes in both of his distance events. In the 10,000m, he was second in 32:41.96 and third in the 5,000m in 15:52.85.
  • Keith Bowling (Jefferson, Wis.) earned a second-place finish in the Triple Jump with a personal-best leap of 13.68m. Bowling also recorded a distance of 6.15m for eighth in the Long Jump.
  • The 4x100m Relay of Dylan Chirigotis (Racine, Wis.), Shemron Ross (Grand Anse, Grenada), Jacob Vallee (Marengo, Ill.), and Schamber was sixth in 44.18 seconds.
  • Cole Kuehl (Richland, Mich.) tossed a distance of 37.92m in the Discus to finish sixth.
  • Todd O'Dell (Manteno, Ill.) threw a personal-best distance of 11.68m to finish seventh in the Shot Put. He also scored in the Hammer, finishing eighth with a toss of 35.77m.
  • Jared Traver (Janesville, Wis.) placed seventh in the Javelin, throwing a mark of 40.21m.
  • Tyler Punzel (Watertown, Wis.) also scored in the 1,500m run, finishing eighth in a personal-best time of 4:16.92.
  • Aurora and Benedictine each tallied 169 points to share the conference title. The two teams have combined to be a part of the a conference title each of the last eight seasons.

  • Select Warriors will compete next Thursday and Friday at North Central College's Dr. Keeler Invitational.
