MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's and women's track & field teams begin competition today at the 2019 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Outdoor Championships. The Warriors men's team is coming off a fourth-place finish at the championships a season ago, where they scored 79 points and won three events. The fourth-place ranking was WLC's highest since 2007 and 2008 when it finished third each of those years. Jonah Jahns (Germantown, Wis.) returns as the champion of the 400m, while Sasha Bornschlegl (Rochester, Minn.) captured the Shot Put title. WLC has athletes ranked in the top-five in 14 events entering the championships, including the NACC's top time in the 400m Hurdles (56.41) from Joel Schamber (Wyoming, Mich.).
WLC's women's team posted a fifth-place finish at last year's outdoor championships. Wisconsin Lutheran tallied 77 points and a first-place finish from Kiana Granath (Lodi, Wis.) in the Heptathlon. The Warriors' best finish at the championships came in 2013 when they were runners-up with 165 points. The Green and White have athletes among the top five in 18 events, including the conference's top marks in the 4x400m Relay (4:12.49) and Heptathlon (Granath/3.542 Points).
