Warriors Unable To Overcome Second-Half Scoring Surge

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) – After over 60 minutes of a scoreless draw, the visiting Concordia Wisconsin Falcons found the back of the net three times, defeating the Wisconsin Lutheran College men's soccer team 3-0 on Senior Night Wednesday at Warriors Soccer Field.

  • Both teams saw a couple scoring chances in the first half, but neither were able to capitalize and break open the scoreless game. The Falcons attempted 10 shots, placing two on frame that were stopped by Warriors junior keeper Erek Lehnen (Fort Myers, Fla.).
  • Midway through the second half, the Falcons got on the board first as Miguel Garcia scored his second of the goal the season in 67th minute.
  • Five minutes later, Concordia Wisconsin made it 2-0 after Ivan Cuellar dribbled through the defense and scored from 20 yards out.
  • The Warriors had a couple chances to close the gap later in the second half, but a shot by junior Mario Caldwell (Milwaukee, Wis.) ricocheted off the crossbar and a header attempt from sophomore Aedon Meurer (Waukesha, Wis.) was saved by a Falcons defenseman.
  • The Falcons added one more goal with just over a minute to play as Tyler Salvador scored his first of the season.

  • The Warriors attempted eight shots, with Meurer's header the only shot on frame. Freshman Trevor Millonzi (Jackson, Wis.) paced WLC with three shots.
  • Lehnen stopped five of the eight shots he faced, marking his third consecutive game with at least five saves, and seventh on the season.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran honored its only senior, Miguel Sanchez Cordero (Milwaukee, Wis.), during a halftime presentation.

  • The Falcons launched 21 shots, with eight resulting as shots on goal. Jackson Dryden finished with four shots while Angel Uriostegui led the team with two on frame.
  • Goalkeeper Nate Yeager played all 90 minutes for the Falcons, earning his 10th win of the season.
