Wisconsin Lutheran Clipped By Aurora, 2-0

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat to league unbeaten Aurora Wednesday night at Warriors Soccer Field. The visiting Spartans scored a goal in each half, including the game-winner just 0:24 seconds left before halftime to break a scoreless game.

  • The Warriors and Spartans played an evenly-matched affair for most of the first half. WLC put a pair of shots on frame courtesy of sophomore Jason Cano (Delavan, Wis.) in the 14th and 16th minutes. AU placed five shots on target in the first half, the latter which was good for the first goal of the game with just 0:24 seconds left on an indirect free kick from Henry Zehnal.
  • Both teams had scoring chances through the first 25:00 minutes of the second half. Aurora made it a 2-0 game in the 72nd minute on Julio Acosta's second goal of the season.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran kept the Spartans off the scoreboard the remainder of the match as junior goalkeeper Erek Lehnen (Fort Myers, Fla.) stopped three shots over the final 18:00 minutes of action.

  • The Warriors finished with six shots for the game, including four on goal. Cano led WLC with two shots on frame.
  • Lehnen made a season-high 10 saves playing all 90:00 minutes in net.
  • WLC attempted one corner kick, compared to five for AU.

  • Christian Duarte totaled a team-high six shots for the Spartans, who finished with 23 for the game.
  • Jalen Depenbrock and Edgar Rodriguez shared the shutout and made two saves apiece.
