Warriors’ Winning Streak Snapped By Stars

RIVER FOREST, Ill. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's soccer team saw its season-long, three-match winning streak come to an end Saturday, as host Dominican defeated the Warriors 4-1 at West Campus Field.

  • Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (7-9-0, 6-4-0 NACC), Dominican (10-5-1, 7-3-0 NACC)
  • Location: West Campus Field, River Forest, Ill.

  • Jason Cano (Delavan, Wis.) had an early chance in the 5' to get the Green and White on the scoreboard, but a save from Dominican's Daniel Dominguez kept the game scoreless.
  • DU started the scoring in the 20' when Alexander Lulek found the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season off an endline pass that was centered, resulting in assists from Isaac Perez and Jonathan Hernandez.
  • Perez added an insurance goal in the final minute of the opening half for the sixth time this season off a long pass from Michael Delaney.
  • The Stars scored quickly to open the second half as Denis Soldo finished with his left foot to beat the goalkeeper in the 50'.
  • Perez added his second goal of the match in the 68' off an assist from Marco Sanchez for a 4-0 Stars' lead.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran cracked the scoring column shortly after in the 75' when Noah Hernandez (Glendale, Wis.) netted his second of the year off an assist from Jacob Bruecker (Sheboygan, Wis.).

  • Cano collected three of the Warriors' seven shots for the match, including two on target.
  • Hernandez and Alex Rivera (Milwaukee, Wis.) added WLC's other two shots on goal.
  • Cedric Guichard (Plantation, Fla.) made a season-high 13 saves for WLC.

  • Denis Soldo tallied a match-high six shots for the Stars, who racked up 30 for the match.
  • Isaac Perez added five shots, four on goal, two goals, and an assist.
  • Daniel Dominguez made three saves to pickup the win in net.

  • The Warriors close out their regular season schedule on the road Wednesday at Benedictine (9-7-0, 6-3-0 NACC).
