RIVER FOREST, Ill. – After a scoreless first half, the Wisconsin Lutheran College men's soccer team exploded for four second-half goals to claim its sixth win of the season, 4-0, Sunday over Concordia Chicago at Concordia Stadium.
The Warriors (6-6-3, 3-3-1 NACC) took just 5:55 off the second half clock to find their first goal of the game. Roman Nino (Lake Worth, Fla./Santaluces) found the back of the net off a pass from Brad Mallmann (Plymouth, Wis./Plymouth) that he headed home. Just two minutes later, Jake Semmann (Grafton, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) scored the first of his two goals of the game from an assist by Enrique Arreola (Anna, Ill./Anna-Jonesboro). Nate Wasser (Lake Geneva, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) scored his team-leading 10th goal of the season in the 66th minute to extend the lead to 3-0, Semmann was credited with the assist. Semmann closed out the games' scoring with his second goal in the 87th minute off a pass from Teffie Joyce (Green Bay, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran).
The Cougars (5-11-0, 1-6-0 NACC) managed just 10 shots opposed to the Warriors' 26. Arreola was credited with a team-high six shots for WLC. Three players had two shots apiece for CUC. Jon Stewert (Waukesha, Wis./South) had five saves in goal for the Warriors.
Wisconsin Lutheran returns to action with a NACC game Wednesday night at Warrior Field against Concordia Wisconsin (7-6-2, 4-2-1 NACC) for the final home game of the season. The Senior Night contest gets underway at 7 p.m.
