Men's Soccer Suffers Season's First Loss At No. 23 Pacific Lutheran

PARKLAND, Wash. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2013 season Friday as it dropped a 3-0 decision to 23rd-ranked Pacific Lutheran at West Field.

The Lutes (3-0-0) netted first-half tallies in the 11th and 44th minute of the opening period for a 2-0 lead. WLC accumulated five shots in the first half, compared to 15 for PLU.

The second half of action was contested quite evenly as the Lutes out-shot the Warriors 6-0. The 2-0 margin stood until the 81st minute when Pacific Lutheran notched its final goal of the game.

Brad Mallmann (Plymouth, Wis./Plymouth) recorded two shots to lead the Warriors. Jon Stewart (Waukesha, Wis./South) collected 11 saves. Derek Johnson attempted a game-high seven of PLU's 21 shots for the game. Goalkeeper Joe Rayburn made a pair of saves in net.

Wisconsin Lutheran (1-1-2) continues its northwest road trip Sunday when it plays Puget Sound (0-2-0) at 1 p.m. CST at East Athletic Field.
