Warriors Sixth After Opening Rounds Of NACC Championship

HAVEN, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's golf team rebounded from a tough opening round by shooting the fourth-lowest score during Monday's second round at the 2019-2020 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship at The Irish Course at Whistling Straits. The Warriors are tied for sixth in the 10-team field and will play the final two rounds of the championship in the spring.

  • Junior Johnny Kositzky Jr. (Escanaba, Mich.) leads the Warriors through two rounds after posting the second-lowest tournament score, 75 (+3), during Monday's second round. The junior is currently tied for 12th in the 50-player field with a 160.
  • Junior Quinn Schultz (Chaseburg, Wis.) is two shots behind WLC's leader with a 162 (82-80) and is tied for 15th.
  • Sophomore Joey Ploch (Oconomowoc, Wis.) made the biggest jump from round one to round two by lowering his total by 13 strokes (91-78). He's tied for 28th with a 169.
  • Sophomore Grant Hammer (Germantown Hills, Ill.) is tied for 35th with a 173 (88-85) and sophomore James Michaelson (Crystal Lake, Ill.) is tied for 39th with a 177 (86-91).
  • WLC improved its team total by 23 shots from the first round to the second. Wisconsin Lutheran's 318 was the fourth-lowest round on Monday.

  • Two-time defending conference champion Aurora leads the tournament field with a 614. The Spartans shot identical rounds of 307 and hold a 26-shot lead over second-place Edgewood. AU's Scott Boyajian is the individual clubhouse leader with a 150 (73-77).

  • The first two rounds of the conference championship signal an end of the fall season for the Warriors. WLC returns to action in the spring with its first event, the Pinehurst Intercollegiate on March 6-8.
