Men's Golf Improves At MSOE Invitational

LAKE GENEVA, Wis. ( – The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's golf team competed at the MSOE Invitational Sunday and Monday at Grand Geneva Resort. The Warriors improved their score by 16 strokes over the two-day tournament, led by season low rounds from two players.

  • Top WLC Individual: Trey Gnewikow, Mason Herkstroeter (+21), T-66th of 83

  • Gnewikow (Warrens, Wis.) and Herkstroeter (Fond du Lac, Wis.), both sophomores, paced the Warriors with scores of 164 (+21) and tied for 66th in the 83-player field. Gnewikow fired a season-low 78 in round two, while Herkstroeter shot a second round 80 as both improved on day two of the tournament.
  • Freshman Hans Schultz (Ladysmith, Wis.) was three strokes behind and finished with a score of 167, including a season low round two score of 81.
  • Freshman Theo Schmenk (River Falls, Wis.) and sophomore Collin Duffy (Sister Bay, Wis.) rounded out the top five for the Warriors. Schmenk carded a two-day total of 179, while Duffy recorded a score of 211.
  • WLC finished with a round two score of 329, compared to a 345 in Sunday's first round.

  • Edgewood topped the 16-team field with a team score of 588 (+16), three strokes better than second-place Concordia Wisconsin. Dubuque's Garvin Paper earned medalist honors after firing a one-under 142 (71-71).

  • The Warriors return to the links Sunday for the first round of the NACC Championship at Whistling Straits Irish Course. Tee time is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Live results will be available at
