Ploch Ties For Second At Rain-Shortened WLC Fall Invitational

HARTFORD, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Sophomore Joey Ploch (Oconomowoc, Wis.) fired a one-over par 73 and tied for second overall at the rain-shortened WLC Fall Invitational on Saturday at Washington County Golf Course. Following a brief weather delay and an attempt to play, Sunday's second round was cancelled and the Warriors finished fifth out of 14 teams at their home event.

  • Ploch led the Warriors with a 73 (+1) and finished tied for second overall in the crowded 88-player field. The sophomore birdied holes three, five, eight, and 17 to contribute to his strong performance.
  • Junior Johnny Kositzky Jr. (Escanaba, Mich.) sunk two birdie putts and carded a score of 79 (+7) to finish tied for 25th.
  • Sophomore James Michaelson (Crystal Lake, Ill.) and junior Quinn Schultz (Chaseburg, Wis.) shot identical scores of 81 (+9) and finished tied for 36th.
  • Sophomores Grant Hammer (Germantown Hills, Ill.) and Mason Herkstroeter (Fond du Lac, Wis.) rounded out WLC's lineup, carding rounds of 85 and 90 respectively.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran fired a one-day 399 to finish one shot back of fourth-place St. Norbert. 

  • Edgewood topped the 14-team field with a score of 379, just one shot better than second-place Carthage and two better than third-place Concordia Wisconsin. Carthage's Jordan Knutson earned medalist honors after shooting a 70 (-2).

  • The Warriors return to the links Thursday for the one-day Gavin Lux Fall Invite hosted by Elmhurst at the Oak Brook Golf Club. Tee time is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
