Ploch Paces Warriors At Culver's-Edgewood Fall Invite

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's golf team finished 12th out of 23 teams at the season-opening Culver's-Edgewood Fall Invitational Friday and Saturday at Glen Erin Golf Club. Joey Ploch (Oconomowoc, Wis.) paced the Warriors after shooting a team-low 72 in the second round.

  • After shooting an opening-round 82, Ploch posted a 72 (+1) in the second round to jump 46 spots and finish tied for 32nd in the 125-player field.
  • Johnny Kositzky Jr. (Escanaba, Mich.) finished one stroke behind Ploch with a 155 and tied for 37th. He was the only player in the lineup to record consecutive rounds in the 70s. 
  • Grant Hammer (Germantown Hills, Ill.) bounced back with a 77 after posting an 81 during Friday's first round. He tied for 53rd with a 158.
  • Quinn Schultz (Chaseburg, Wis.) fired a score of 79 in the opening round before a second-round 80 placed him tied for 57th overall.
  • James Michaelson (Crystal Lake, Ill.) rounded out the WLC lineup with rounds of 81 and 87.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran's second-round 307 tied for the eighth lowest round of the day. The Warriors improved by 11 strokes from day one to day two.

  • Webster topped the 23-team tournament field for the third consecutive season, finishing 20 shots better than second-place Carthage. Will Hocker fired rounds of 67 (-4) and 68 (-3) to lead the Gorlocks and earn medalist honors.

  • Wisconsin Lutheran is back on the course Tuesday for the 36-hole Aurora Fall Collegiate Invitational at Blackberry Oaks Course in Bristol, Illinois. Tee time is scheduled for 7:30 a.m.
