Kennedy Leads Hot-Shooting Warriors Over Stars

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) – Collin Kennedy (Holmen, Wis.) poured in a game-high 35 points and pulled down eight rebounds as the Wisconsin Lutheran College men's basketball team defeated the Dominican Stars 94-65 Saturday afternoon inside the Recreation Complex. The Warriors shot a blistering 52.1 percent from the field and out-scored Dominican 52-26 in the paint en route to the victory.

  • The Warriors jumped out to a 7-3 lead early in the first half after Andrew Bruggink (Brookfield, Wis.) connected on a floater, then Kennedy scored five straight points.
  • Colin Biesterfeld (West Bend, Wis.) converted a layup after a steal, then Bruggink buried a mid-range jumper to push the WLC lead to 11-3, forcing Dominican to take a timeout with 17:22 left in the first half.
  • Kennedy connected again from beyond the arc, giving the Warriors a 23-13 lead, then Paul Koier (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) converted a basket of his own to push the Warriors' lead to 12 points with nine minutes to play in the opening half.
  • Sam Kaufman (Spring Grove, Ill.) converted a three-point play at the 5:36 mark to give the hosts a 35-24 lead, but the Stars responded with five straight points to cut the WLC lead to six points, forcing the Warriors to take a timeout with 4:33 remaining in the first half.
