Kennedy, Schieve Selected To All-NACC Teams

WAUKESHA, Wis. ( – Wisconsin Lutheran College sophomore men's basketball player Collin Kennedy (Holmen, Wis./Luther) has been named to the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference First Team for the second straight season, while his teammate senior Tanner Schieve (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) was named Second Team All-NACC, it was announced on Wednesday as the 2016-2017 postseason awards were released by the league office.

Kennedy, who was one of just two sophomores selected to the 10-member First Team, is one of only two players in the conference averaging a double-double, as he leads the Warriors and ranks second in the league in scoring (19.0 ppg) and rebounding (10.2 rpg). He has scored at least 20 points in 12 games, including a season-high 29 points on December 17 in a one-point win at Rockford. The sophomore forward has started all 25 games and recorded 14 double-doubles, snagging a career-best 18 rebounds in a two-point win on February 14 at Lakeland. Kennedy also leads WLC in free-throw percentage (75.2) and minutes per game (34.2).

Schieve, who was selected to the five-member Second Team, leads the NACC in assists (6.4 apg) and is second in steals (2.0 spg). He has made (141) and attempted (199) more free throws than any player in the league. Schieve has scored at least 20 points in eight games, including a career-high 29 points on January 25 at Marian. He also handed out a career-high 12 assists on December 17 at Rockford. The senior guard, who has started all 25 games, has hit the game-winning shot or free throw in three games this season; Nov. 26 at Caltech, Nov. 30 vs. Marian, and Jan. 4 at Edgewood.

Benedictine's Tahron Harvey was named NACC Player of the Year, while his coach Keith Bunkenburg was voted Coach of the Year by his peers for the second straight season. Rockford's Zach Wallace earned Defensive Player of the Year, while Concordia Chicago's Jarek Hotwagner was voted Freshman of the Year.

The Warriors (15-10, 12-8 NACC) open NACC Tournament play as the No. 4 seed for the second straight year, hosting No. 5 seed MSOE (12-12, 11-9 NACC) tonight at 7:00 p.m. inside the Recreation Complex. Links to live stats and video for the game will be available at
