GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's cross country team opened its 2013 season with a sixth-place finish Saturday at the Tom Barry Invitational at Colburn Park.
Leading the way for the Warriors was sophomore Chase Robles (New Berlin, Wis./West) and senior Isaac Hill (Racine, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran). Robles placed 13th out of 108 runners after finishing in 21:43, while Hill was just one second behind in 14th at 21:44.
Freshman Jacob Jodat (Pewaukee, Wis./Waukesha North) took 19th after completing his first collegiate race in 21:57.
Senior Nick Biancuzzo (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Milwaukee Lutheran) finished in 22:43, while junior Danny Hafenstein (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) finished in 23:27, improving his 2012 time at this same race by almost two minutes. Senior Tommy Jones (Delavan, Wis./Delavan-Darien) finished in 23:57, junior Sam Wallace (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) in 25:13, junior Jack Albert (La Crosse, Wis./Luther) in 26:00, junior Steve Van Alstine (Howards Grove, Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran) in 26:29, and freshman Kyle McBee (Monroe, Mich./Lutheran South) in 29:12.
St. Scholastica won the 11-team invite after placing four runners inside the top 11. Carroll's Dakota Pruitt won the individual title with a time of 20:46.
Next action for the Warriors comes September 14 at the Warhawk Invitational on the UW-Whitewater Campus Course in Whitewater. The 8K race begins at 11:45 a.m.
